Declaration of Stewardship

For the Waters, The Plains, and The Future

We, the citizens and visitors of Keith County, Nebraska, recognizing the profound beauty and vital importance of Lake McConaughy and the surrounding North Platte Valley, do hereby solemnly resolve to serve as guardians of this land.

As our Nation approaches its 250th year, we acknowledge that our heritage is not only found in our history but in the health of our environment. We declare that a clean community is a prosperous one, and that the preservation of our natural resources is a duty we owe to those who will follow in our footsteps.

The Water Guardian I pledge to keep our shorelines pristine, ensuring that no waste or pollutants enter the waters that sustain our life and recreation.
The Prairie Protector I pledge to respect the open spaces of Keith County, disposing of all waste responsibly and restoring any site I visit to a better state than I found it.
The Civic Steward I pledge to lead by example, encouraging my fellow citizens to embrace the mission of "Keep Keith County Beautiful" through action and education.
