The Green Team

at Prairie View Middle School

The Green Team at Prairie View School is guided by Keep Keith County Beautiful to inspire and educate our students to take action every day to improve and beautify their community and environment. They are tasked with reducing litter and increasing recycling. These kids are national award winners and have generated over $100,000 to our schools from the PepsiCo Recycle Rally for green improvements in our schools. We are expanding this program to Big Springs, Oshkosh, Arthur, Hyannis and Paxton

Providing quality environmental education

KKCB's Prairie View Green Team is a Youth Advisory Council member for four years and the students participate in programs aimed at educating youth and changing behavior to help end littering, improve recycling, and beautify America’s communities.

Keep Keith County Beautiful has provided consistent support for the efforts of the staff and students  in the areas of our shared values about environmental teaching and learning. KKCB utilizes a Behavior Change System for environmental educational.  We equip the students with a variety of learning activities to accommodate differences in student learning, while providing the basics of recycling right, source reduction, food waste elimination and preventing litter.

KKCB believes the community shares a responsibility in helping our students learn. We focus our efforts on recycling, waste management, litter and environmental stewardship  including volunteering, community development and civic impact.

The efforts speak for themselves.  Throughout the school year the Green Team meets on Wednesday to go over the our lessons, Tuesday and Thursdays our green team collects recycling and puts it in the containers provided by KKCB at the school. On any given day visit the school and you will see recycling and litter reduction in action.

Why I am on The Green Team?
We ask our students and they tell us.

I want to make our community better by recycling. I know that we can make a difference if we all work together

I love taking care of the enviorment. Some ways I take care of it are recyling, picking up trash and not littering.

I strongly believe in making the world a better and cleaner place.

I want to improve Prairie View and be a better role model by helping new kids, always paying attention in class, turning my home work in on time, and being responsible.

I want to help change the world! Please Recycle! I want to help with the environment.

I want to be a part of the solution not the problem.

The Green Team is a wonderful group to work with. The students involved in the green team know how the basics want more information and seek to be the best recyclers in the state. We are so fortunate to have the PepsiCo Recycle Rally and KAB involved in our kids.

What makes our Green Team may not always be good grades in school, but a different way of looking at the world and learning.
